Blackhawk Expands Coal Trading, Utility and Industrial Sales Platform and Announces Hiring of Jerry Quitter

LEXINGTON, KY – Blackhawk Mining, LLC (“Blackhawk”) is pleased to announce the expansion of its coal trading, utility, and industrial coal sales platform. Blackhawk, one of the largest Central Appalachian coal suppliers to domestic and seaborne steel, thermal and industrial customers, is expanding its commercial team to focus on additional trading, brokerage and purchased coal opportunities, and to grow its utility and industrial coal sales portfolio. By partnering with third-party coal producers and leveraging Blackhawk’s production assets and logistics team, this transition will provide an attractive value proposition to customers and add a more diverse range of products to Blackhawks best in class quality and logistics management.

To lead this effort, Blackhawk is also announcing the hiring of Jerry Quitter as Vice President of Sales & Trading. Mr. Quitter has worked in the coal business for over three decades, most recently serving as President of Coal Network, LLC. “Jerry Quitter is a well-known and well-respected colleague in the coal industry,” commented Blackhawk CEO Jesse Parrish. “We are pleased to welcome Jerry and his breadth of knowledge and experiences to our sales and logistics team. His addition expands our commercial team to serve new markets and customers, and we are focused on adding additional resources to support this growth in the future.” In addition, Blackhawk has hired Fred Schrenger as Senior Director of Sales to support this expansion. Fred has over 40 years in the coal industry, most recently serving as Sales Manager for Coal Network. He will report to Jerry Quitter.
