InterGen’s UK gas power plants acquired by Sev.en Global Investments

One of the largest independent power producers in the United Kingdom announces a change of ownership. As of 2. February 2024, InterGen´s gas-fired power plants portfolio which includes three combined-cycle plants in Rocksavage, Coryton, and Spalding, and an open-cycle plant in Spalding, become a part of the Czech investment group Sev.en Global Investments. The acquisition was completed between Sev.en Global Investments and a fund owned and controlled by CREDITAS Group, a Czech investment group active in banking, energy, and real estate.

Alan Svoboda, CEO of Sev.en Global Investments, said: “The UK energy sector has been our focus for several years and InterGen constitutes a well-established high-quality platform for our growth in the region, which is a part of our strategy for the coming years.”

The total capacity of the four gas-fired power plants is 2 800 MW. InterGen powers more than one million homes across the entire country.

  • InterGen, headquartered in Edinburgh, is one of the UK’s leading independent energy generators, currently supplying around 5% of the country’s generating capacity from sites in Coryton (Essex), Spalding (Lincolnshire) and Rocksavage (Cheshire).
  • The sale incorporates InterGen UK gas-fired power plants but does not include Gateway Energy Centre’s battery energy storage system project and other BESS projects under development by InterGen.
