Sev.en Global Investments (SGI), an investment group owned by Czech businessman and billionaire Pavel Tykač, has completed the acquisition of 100% stakes in Celsa Steel UK and Celsa Nordic. The transaction marks SGI’s entry into a completely new industry, namely sustainable steel production, as well as a new geographical region. Both acquired companies will now carry the 7 Steel brand.

This step places Sev.en GI among the key players in the European market for structural steel produced by recycling steel scrap in electric arc furnaces, with a significantly lower carbon footprint. 7 Steel's total annual capacity is two million tons of steel.

7 Steel UK, based in Cardiff, is the UK's largest scrap steel processor. Its steel has been used in iconic projects such as Wembley Stadium, the London Olympic Park and The Shard. The company operates one of the most efficient electric furnaces in the country.

7 Steel Nordic

7 Steel Nordic, with operations in over twenty locations across Northern Europe, includes manufacturing and recycling activities in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. Its products have been used in projects such as Citygate (Sweden), Kaktus Towers (Denmark), Olympic Stadium (Finland) and SNØ (Norway).

"We see steel as a long-term investment. This acquisition is in line with our vision to enter new industries and bring sustainable innovations. 7 Steel will be ready to face challenges and seize new opportunities," comments Sev.en GI CEO Alan Svoboda.

The transaction expands Sev.en GI's portfolio across four continents and more than doubles its workforce to 5,700. The integration and rebranding of the companies under the 7 Steel brand will now begin.

The Sev.en Global Investments group, headquartered in the Czech Republic, invests primarily in energy, mining and, more recently, manufacturing. It operates in Europe, Australia, North America and Asia. Its most significant assets include power plants in the UK and Australia, mining rights for billions of tonnes of coal in the US and fertiliser production in Australia.

The owner of the group is Pavel Tykač , who, according to the Forbes Real Time Billionaires ranking, is among the 400 richest people in the world and ranks fourth in the Czech Dollar Billionaires ranking.
